Together Our Voices Can Change Downriver

Together we can build stronger families, communities, and small businesses for a better tomorrow.

There are many issues affecting our District and the State of Michigan that need to be addressed. I will continue working hard to be your voice in Lansing.

The 28th House District encompasses Berlin Township, Newport, South Rockwood, Rockwood, Flat Rock, Woodhaven, Brownstown Township, and part of Taylor.

ACCESSIBLE ACCOUNTABLE LEADERSHIP

Jamie Thompson is proud to represent the people of the Michigan's 28th House District.  Throughout her first term, she has remained accessible to her constituents and ensured the State House of Representatives is held accountable for their actions in Lansing.

Jamie has advocated as a grassroots leader for Medical Freedom, Secured Elections, and Constitutional Rights.

She is proud to tell people she is from Downriver because she knows the residents are fighters and represent the best of the best in Wayne County.

COMMUNITY & SMALL BUSINESS

Downriver is a diverse set of communities. Our residents represent a wide range of socioeconomic classes and ethnic backgrounds, but we are united by a common desire to always do better. We are working families, single parent households, veterans, retirees, and small-business owners. Downriver families deserve a voice in Wayne County and in Lansing.

As a small business owner, Jamie understands that all Michiganders have faced significant economic hurdles as the cost of living continues to climb. As your State Representative, Jamie will continue to support small businesses by reducing regulatory burdens and taxes on businesses and families.

INFASTRUCTURE, ROADS, AND BRIDGES

Our state's infrastructure is crumbling. We must ensure we’re prioritizing spending to invest in our infrastructure, roads and bridges.

The Grade Separation Project at Van Horn and Allen Road has not been fully financed, started, and completed as promised. MDOT and the Wayne County Roads Commission need to work together with the Legislature to get these problems solved.

HEALTHCARE

As a nurse, Jamie has witnessed first hand, a broken healthcare system where many patients and families felt abandoned during a pandemic and physicians and nurses were stripped of their autonomy to care for their patients.

Jamie believes in free market solutions to our current health insurance crisis. Downriver has little to no access to mental health services and she will continue to address these concerns in Lansing.

EDUCATION

Jamie understands the frustration parents have felt over the past two years. The needs of each child, as an individual, must be met and she will continue to fight for parents’ right to direct the care and education of their children.

Today, our children are suffering from anxiety and depression at alarming rates and have fallen behind academically. As your state representative, Jamie will continue to support increased funding for student mental health.

Jamie understands skilled trade education is essential to the economic success of future generations. She will continue working to expand these opportunities to ensure students are prepared for a job in the 21st century economy.
